Konami is Making a 'Castlevania' Game for iPhone

Castlevania Grimoire of Souls for iOS

This is Castlevania's first major mobile release since 2010's Castlevania Puzzle: Encore of the Night.

The lack of a new game has been disappointing to longtime fans of the Castlevania series, but it appears there could be some hopeful news on the horizon.

In terms of classic video game franchises on the Nintendo Switch, Konami brought Super Bomberman R which was one of the Switch's launch titles. The publisher has announced Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls - for iOS.

Players will be able to play as familiar Castlevania characters such as Alucard, Shanoa, Maria Renard, Charlotte Aulin and the legendary Simon Belmont.

StoryA future where Count Dracula has been completely destroyed.

Equally mysterious is the game's release date and available regions. It's certainly not what many Castlevania fans were hoping for, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's destined to disappoint... although the last time Konami took a stab at a mobile Castlevania, the results left something to be desired.

The story is pretty simple: after the defeat of Count Dracula, it seemed like eternal peace had finally descended upon the world.

However, with a letter that arrived under Araki Gensui, an end was going to be struck in the peaceful era. It will also have 4v4 PVP, Boss Rush mode, and features some gorgeous character portraits and artwork.

Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls's closed beta requires iOS 9 and later on the software side of things and iPhone 6S, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, or iPad Pro and later. Only a few people know of this group and they have the ability to fight Dracula. He'll be partnered with Lucy, a skilled magician working for a research organization.
