Former Playboy model settles lawsuit, is free to discuss alleged Trump affair

Karen McDougal reportedly released from American Media contract, is free to discuss alleged Trump affair

Former Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal, who grew up in Sawyer, on the west side of MI, has come to an agreement with a publishing company that will now allow her to discuss the details of her alleged affair with President Donald Trump.

While the settlement says McDougal and her associates can not sue AMI, it allows for her to still have claims against Cohen or Keith Davidson, her lawyer who negotiated the deal with AMI, The New York Times reported. The Trump-allied tabloid then buried the story as part of several hush agreements over allegations against Trump.

McDougal's suit alleged that Trump's embattled consigliere Michael Cohen was working behind the scenes with her then attorney Keith Davidson and AMI to put together a deal meant to silence her.

"It's a total win", said McDougal's lawyer Peter Stris.

Significantly, Stris said that he believed Cohen and Davidson had perpetrated this fraud in other cases as well. He specified that they got what they were fighting for and that her client does not owe anything to A.M.I. anymore.

In a March interview with Anderson Cooper, McDougal, who says she had an affair with Trump in 2006 and 2007, apologized to Trump's wife Melania.

Not only is McDougal fully released from the contract and regains ownership of her story, but she also gets to keep the $150,000.

This combination of pictures shows adult film actress/director Stormy Daniels (left) and Karen McDougal. That was about a week before the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided Cohen's office and seized, according to the beliefs of sources close to the case, are records pertaining to AMI and its deal with McDougal. A spokesman for Mr. Davidson has said the lawyer "fulfilled his obligations and zealously advocated for Ms. McDougal". Cohen's attorney, Brent Blakely, did not immediately return a call seeking comment Wednesday.

A representative for National Enquirer parent company American Media Inc. on Wednesday sent The Hollywood Reporter a statement confirming the settlement: "AMI is pleased that we reached an amicable resolution with Karen today that provides both sides what they wanted as a result".

As far as McDougal's alleged relationship with Trump is concerned, it reportedly began in 2006 after they met at a Playboy event during the taping of "The Apprentice".

Under the settlement agreement, McDougal can keep the $150,000 she was paid and AMI has the rights to up to $75,000 for any future profits from her story about the relationship.

Leaving aside the salacious details of McDougal's relationship with Trump, the McDougal affair could have an impact on the legal situation facing Trump's longtime attorney Michael Cohen.
