Palestine withdraws high-ranking official in U.S. over embassy move

Iran said today that new US sanctions on its central bank governor would only make Iranians

Pakistan has noted with grave concern that despite calls by the global community to comply with UN General Assembly and Security Council resolutions on the two-state solution, the United States is moving its Embassy to Jerusalem, reported by Radio Pakistan.

The others were Angola, Cameroon, Congo, the DRC, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia.

At the United Nations general assembly in December 2017, nine countries, including the USA and Israel, voted against a resolution that, in effect, called on the U.S. to withdraw its recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Consequently, the country was invited to a January 3 U.S. reception for United Nations member-states that did not vote in the resolution.

Mr Michel said the violence and killings would be moved onto the calendar of the European Union summit in Sofia on Wednesday and Thursday.

The move came after the Turkish foreign ministry temporarily expelled the Israeli ambassador in protest over Monday's killings and the USA decision to relocate its embassy to Jerusalem.

The Israel embassy in Kenya, however, put the number at 49.

"They are not committing this genocide for the first time", he said, adding that the killings "have shown the ugly face of Israel".

"These are not people fighting for their rights".

Palestinian U.N. envoy Riyad Mansour told the Security Council that the Israeli "occupation is the main source of violence in our region". "Are these people honest?"

Israel says the military has delivered eight trucks full of humanitarian aid and medical supplies to the Gaza Strip, where Israeli troops firing from across the border have killed almost 60 Palestinians at mass border protests.

Downing Street has warned the violence in Gaza, which has so far seen 58 Palestinians killed by Israeli troops, is "destructive to peace efforts". Since the beginning of protests on March 30, more than 100 people have been killed, including 13 children.

He spoke to Melbourne Radio 3AW on Tuesday.

Relations with South Africa and Turkey are not that important to Israel, so if they "want their ambassadors back home, they are most welcome", former national security adviser Yaakov Amidror said on Tuesday.

"We call for the world to stop Israel's terrorism against the Palestinian people", said Hatem Abudayyeh, of the U.S. Palestinian Community Network.

Alistair Burt, UK Minister for the Middle East, has said the USA needs to show greater understanding of the root causes of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in a rare criticism of Britain's closest ally.

Erdogan tweeted back that Netanyahu was the leader of "an apartheid state that has occupied a defenseless people's lands for 60+ years in violation of United Nations resolutions", adding that he was criticising Turkey to deflect attention.
