Liverpool have allegedly reached a deal to sign Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir.

BBC Sport have reported that the Reds are close to a deal worth £53 million, while Paul Joyce of the Times followed that up by revealing the breakdown would be £48.4m initially, with £4.4m in potential add-ons.

Jean-Michel Aulas, the Lyon president, offered little encouragement when speaking on Thursday.

According to The Guardian, "Fekir is due to undergo a Liverpool medical at Clairefontaine, the France national team's training base, before signing terms on Friday".

Klopp and co. hope to complete the transfer before the commencement of the FIFA World Cup, next week.

The Reds earmarked the attacker as a key signing for this summer, with Jurgen Klopp clearly intent on overhauling the midfield following deals for Fabinho and Naby Keita.

And the Mirror now say the Reds are confident the 24-year-old will be confirmed as a Liverpool player before the weekend.

Bayern Munich and Atlético Madrid have also been linked with Fekir, who can operate in a number of forward roles and would in effect be Philippe Coutinho's replacement at Anfield.

The France global will become Liverpool's second signing of the summer after the arrival of Fabinho from Monaco.

A fourth transfer could soon be on the cards with reports claiming a £12m deal for Stoke's Xherdan Shaqiri could be in the pipeline.
