Membership to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will strengthen India’s relations with Central Asia

India, along with Pakistan, became full-time members at the summit in Kazakhstan in June 2017.

The India-China bilateral trade reached $84.44 billion a year ago, according to data of the Chinese General Administration of Customs in March.

President Mamnoon congratulated President Xi Jinping on his re-election as President of People's Republic of China and General Secretary of Communist Party of China (CPC).

Participants at the summit will discuss about issues including information security, combating cross-border crime and the formation of permanent bodies to ensure law enforcement and security, he said.

"In response to the president's suggestion for enhancing financial cooperation between the two countries and also helping trade, the Prime Minister conveyed to President Xi India's readiness to permit the Bank of China to establish its branch in Mumbai", Gokhale said.

Rouhani, speaking at a summit of the Chinese and Russian-led security bloc the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in the port city of Qingdao, said that Russia's role in implementing the nuclear deal had been "important and constructive".

The ties between the two neighbouring nuclear powers had nosedived following last year's Doklam standoff as well as due to a number of other issues issues including China blocking India's move to get Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar banned by the United Nations and its opposition to India's bid for the Nuclear Suppliers Group membership.

On the occasion, President Mamnoon said that Pakistan supported the Chinese chairmanship of SCO and appreciated the various initiatives proposed by China in the organization during the previous year.
