Pep Guardiola speaks out on Yaya Toure racism claims

Pep Guardiola

The midfielder had to wait until City's final home game of the season against Brighton for his first start of the season.

Toure made the sensational accusations in a recent interview with France Football after leaving Manchester City last season.

Last week, Toure sensationally suggested that the former FC Barcelona manager was "jealous of him" and clearly had a problem with African players which prompted his exit at Barca and more recently at City.

"The other players will never admit it publicly but some have already told me that they ended up hating him".

"We have been together during two years".

Asked about becoming Club President, he said, "President?"

Ahead of the match, Guardiola was full of praise for the 35-year-old.

Guardiola has since achieved success at Bayern Munich and City as he continues his quest to be the greatest coach in the world.

"I think a player like Yaya would be good for a club like Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, Tottenham or Liverpool".

The French side issued a statement on Saturday confirming the end of negotiations, a direct response to Liverpool's decision to pull out of the deal 24 hours earlier.

Elsewhere, Eden Hazard has delayed a decision about whether to commit himself to a new contract with Chelsea.

Hazard, who is the Belgium captain, said he was focusing his energy on the World Cup.

"FC Barcelona have been the best team of the season, even though they didn't win the Champions League", he said.
