Google Brings Android Messages to the Web

Android Messages for Web

It's likely that Google will soon update the web app to support additional features.

Google is working towards standardizing RCS-based messaging for its Android platform while everyone else is moving on to Internet-based messaging service. This means Messages, like the Gmail app, will recommend responses for you to send in your conversations.

Google Product Management Director Sanaz Ahri wrote in a blog post that Messages for Web is one of Google's "top-requested features". Just like the mobile app, the web client supports texts, images, stickers, and more.

Earlier this year Google had announced RCS (Rich Communication Service) for the messaging service. While the podcasts have recently been available for download on Android through Google Play Music as well as on third-party apps, the Mountain View-headquartered tech giant says it anticipates Podcasts to bring it to hundreds of millions of new listeners across the planet. If you want to use this new feature of Android Messages on your desktop browser. You then scan that QR code with the appropriate section of the Messages app.

Select "Messages for web" in the menu of the mobile app.

How does Android Messages work on desktop? But probably the highlight reel of the update is the new web client for Android Messages that lets users send and receive texts via their desktop.

Android Messages website is supported on Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge browsers. Allo was one swing at that goal, but Google is pausing all efforts and investment in that failed app and betting that Android Messages - the out-of-box default messaging app on many smartphones - represents its best chance at success.

Apart from the above-mentioned changes the Android Messages app is also receiving some set of new features.

Users can now preview links directly on their chat three without needing to click on it. Also, Google has made it easier to copy and paste passwords and verification codes that are sent via texts. These AI features include the ability to read along with a podcast via automatic transcription, and the ability to read what's coming up next in the episode if you're looking to save some time. Many of these features were announced when the company revealed its upcoming Android Messages overhaul in April.
