Priest slaps crying baby at baptism ceremony

Priest slaps baby

A disturbing video has emerged of a priest slapping a baby across the face as he administers baptism.

"Calm down, calm down, you must calm down", the priest says in French.

The woman can be heard saying something to the priest before the man has to physically remove the baby from the priest's arms.

A family was shocked when a priest slapped their baby across the face when he wouldn't stop crying during his baptism. Second, there was nooo reason to slap a child like that.

Stunned witnesses say "he's afraid" and tell the priest to let go.

The video has already been viewed over a million times on YouTube.

An onlooker can be heard gasping, as the priest then raises his voice at the boy and places his hand over his mouth in an attempt to muffle the cries.

The priest who visibly annoyed, then holds the baby's face in his hands, looks it in the eyes and slaps it hard on the cheek with his left hand.

"I'm going to put water on the forehead, and after I'll embrace the young fellow", one user quoted the priest as saying.

Eventually, the man believed to be the boy's father, yanks the boy away as the video cuts out. "I will scream louder than you so calm down".

Twitter users have been taking to the social media platform in droves to weigh in on the horrifying moment, with many tweeting that they would have knocked the priest out. As a priest you are suppose to insure safety and peace but yet you slap my child!
