Rapper XXXTentacion dead at age 20 in Miami-area shooting

Social media update Curiously the hip-hop star Insta-storied that he was'planning a charity event for this weekend in Florida around 11:45AM PST

That's when two armed suspects approached him and shot him, in a possible robbery, police say. He faced charges of aggravated battery of his pregnant girlfriend, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and witness tampering.

Authorities in Florida say they're searching for two suspects in the fatal shooting of rapper-singer XXXtentacion. Dispatch audio indicates the incident was possibly a drive-by, with the alleged shooter or shooters having potentially left the scene in a black Dodge Journey, Chevy Tahoe, or Jeep Grand Cherokee. Bogenschutz, the Fort Lauderdale lawyer who represented the rapper in the criminal case, said XXXTentacion was moving to "resolve" the matter at the time of his death.

Friends and collaborators such as Ski Mask The Slump God and Diplo expressed their disbelief and heartbreak on Twitter.

Born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, he hailed from Flordia's Broward County and first came to a moderate degree of fame in 2017 thanks to his SoundCloud hit "Look At Me!".

And J. Cole said, in part: "RIP X. Enormous talent and limitless potential and a strong desire to be a better person. F***, no." In that same profile, Ayala claimed she had been harassed by fans of Onfroy, telling Hitt: "I can't even go to the mall or Walmart without being noticed and eyed down".

"This got me f-ked up".

A subsequent tweet said, "next time make sure you kill me so I can't talk (expletive)".

According to the Miami New Times, Onfroy's girlfriend accused him of smacking her in the face, holding her under water, and shoving a barbecue fork into her genitals. In March, a judge ruled that XXXTentacion could be released from house arrest in order to tour in support of his new album.

Last month Spotify backpedaled on a planned anti-hate policy to remove XXXTentacion's music from its playlists, along with R. Kelly.

"I at least want to know that the kids perceived my message and were able to make something of themselves and able to take my message and use it and turn it into something positive and to at least have a good life", he said.
