President Trump holds 'Make America Great Again' rally in Fargo, ND

President Heads to ND for MAGA Rally

President Donald Trump moved the Supreme Court to his list of central campaign issues on Wednesday following the surprise retirement earlier in the day of long-serving justice Anthony Kennedy.

"I'm very honored that he chose to do it during my term in office", Trump said of Kennedy during a 70-minute freewheeling speech at a rally in this Republican stronghold, "because he felt confident for me to make the right choice and carry on his great legacy" - one that has been far more moderate than Trump's. Heidi Heitkamp, said the Supreme Court "makes the issue of Senate control one of the vital issues of our time".

"We got here at 5:00 p.m. hoping to get in", Trump supporter Alyssa Anderson said. After recruiting Rep. Kevin Cramer to run against incumbent Democratic Senator Heidi Heitkamp this fall, Donald Trump appeared to be more interested in promoting Heitkamp than Cramer.

Rep. Kevin Cramer made it clear he was less than happy with Trump's friendly treatment of Cramer's opponent, Democratic Sen.

Trump visits North Dakota as new economic data show the state falling behind its Midwestern neighbors amid concerns about an escalating trade war with China.

Following the rally, President Trump will be spending his night in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He's also criticizing vulnerable Democrat Heidi Heitkamp, calling her a "liberal Democrat".

He was referring to Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Cramer added, turning toward the president: "You never have to wonder where I will be because I will always be with them and with you". The California congresswoman told people to "push back on them", but her remarks drew scorn from Republicans and Democrats alike.

The political realities of the state are not lost on Heitkamp, who relies on her bipartisan credentials and personal appeal in the state, and has not been afraid to tout her working relationship with President Trump and maintain a measured distance between herself and the brand of the national Democratic Party. She voted to confirm 21 of Trump's 26 Cabinet-level nominations. Cramer said he's running on the accomplishments of the president and Republican majority in the first 18 months.

"Now they have a new leader". The commander in chief said he is looking for a nominee who can serve for "45 years" and has a "great intellect".

"You need a senator who doesn't just talk like they're from North Dakota, but votes like they're from North Dakota". A few hundred protesters, many of them clutching signs, rallied outside Scheels Arena, but they were outnumbered by supporters who also greeted Trump's motorcade and waited outside the rally.
