Slain man's wake had things he loved

A New Orleans man was honored at his wake with some of his favorite things

Dressed in a Kyrie Irving Celtics jersey and socks, Matthews sits in a chair with a video game controller in his hand, surrounded by his favorite snacks. She said her son was a big fan of Irving. It's an unconventional way of honoring someone's death, yet the Matthews family believes it'll help his friends remember him in the best way possible.

For Renard's funeral ceremony, the family opted to stage his body as if he were playing his favourite game - NBA2K - while wearing a Boston Celtics shirt and eating Doritos crisps.

The 18-year-old Renard Matthews of New Orleans, LA, was robbed and shot dead on June 25 while strolling with his dog. His family put together a unique display, which quickly went viral, at the Sunday wake that commemorated the young man's life and love of the Celtics. His favorite snacks were positioned on a nearby table and the floor.

Renard Matthews died last month in a shooting with police finding him with gunshot wound to his head.
