Clinton trolls Trump ahead of Putin summit with World Cup tweet

Outrage after Chicago police fatally shoot man

Question for President Trump as he meets Putin: "Do you know which team you play for?"

Earlier on Friday, Trump said that he will "absolutely" ask his Russian counterpart about Moscow's alleged involvement in the United States presidential election. Undeterred, the American president is set to go face-to-face with Putin, the authoritarian leader for whom he has expressed admiration.

The summit, which is being closely watched around the world, was not the first time Trump and Putin have held talks.

In his prior role at the CIA, Pompeo vowed to fight Russian interference in US elections later this year.

As he flew home to Washington aboard Air Force One, Trump tried to clarify his position via tweet, saying: "As I said today and many times before, 'I have GREAT confidence in MY intelligence people.' However, I also recognize that in order to build a brighter future, we can not exclusively focus on the past - as the world's two largest nuclear powers, we must get along!"

And it came at the end of an extraordinary trip to Europe in which Trump had already berated allies, questioned the value of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation alliance and demeaned leaders including Germany's Angela Merkel and Britain's Theresa May.

Trump had said at a Friday joint press conference with May that he had provided a suggestion to her about handing Brexit negotiations, and that she had not taken it.

But he added: "Unfortunately, no matter how well I do at the Summit, if I was given the great city of Moscow as retribution for all of the sins and evils committed by Russian Federation...over the years, I would return to criticism that it wasn't good enough - that I should have gotten Saint Petersburg in addition!" "That's all." Ahead of the Helsinki summit, European officials say they fear Trump more than Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump said he and Putin would discuss a range of issues, from trade to the military, along with missiles and China. The deputy AG oversees Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into possible collusion between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russian Federation.

President Trump emphasized that he meant to say: "I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be Russia" rather than "why it would be Russian Federation". They're getting so much of the oil and gas from Russian Federation. "But I certainly, I'll be asking about it".

Trump blamed former President Barack Obama for failing to stop a dozen Russian military intelligence officers from hacking into emails belonging to the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic Party.

Little information was released about exactly how Mr Trump would be spending his time in Scotland, before he tweeted on Saturday afternoon: I have arrived in Scotland and will be at Trump Turnberry for two days of meetings, calls and hopefully, some golf - my primary form of exercise!
