Lewis Hamilton extends his lead with victory in Hungary

Ahead of today's opening session the air temperature is 26 degrees C while the track temperature is 37 degrees

Valtteri Bottas says he felt hurt after being refereed to by his team boss at Mercedes as Lewis Hamilton's "wingman" during his chaotic Hungarian Grand Prix finish.

Vettel, who started from fourth, took on a different strategy to Hamilton, and did enough to get the jump on Valtteri Bottas only for a slow pit stop to have seemingly cost him dearly.

The 2018 Formula 1 season will now resume at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on August 24-26, 2018, following the summer break. "He just drove a sensational race and helped Lewis, in a way, to build the lead".

Bottas played down both collisions as he fixated on the comments of his boss which clearly struck a chord. "It's important to capitalise on those hard weekends such as this and I think that's really been a key strength of ours this year", he added. "The second half usually gets a bit better on our side so we will go and prepare and make sure we come back even stronger".

Hamilton won the race, while Bottas slipped from second to fifth late on after clipping the back of Vettel's auto and then bumping sides with the Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo.

We are on equal terms and I trust the team 100% on that. He broke his front wing but Vettel somehow continued without damage or a puncture, keeping Raikkonen at bay in the process to finish a distant second behind Hamilton. And twenty laps before the end, I was feeling OK, we could control the pace and position, but then the rear tyres started to die.

Lap 10 - Hamilton remains in the lead ahead of Mercedes teammate Bottas and the two Ferraris, Vettel and Raikkonen.

"I think we had very good speed but with what happened [in qualifying] and after the start we were [only] able to use our speed when we were catching up". This, in turn, allowed Raikkonen - who had made a second stop for more softs - to catch up and make it a three-car fight for second.

Hamilton's win here followed his victory at last weekend's rain-soaked German Grand Prix, where he was handed victory after Vettel crashed late while leading. The Mercedes locked up and speared the Red Bull.

"In today's race, starting P2, after lap one, Valtteri's race was the flawless wingman race - and I don't mean it in championship terms, because we have no No. 1, we have no number two, but it was just how he was racing".

Lap 55 - With 15 laps to go it looks like only a serious mistake or a technical failure can stop Lewis Hamilton from winning the Hungarian Grand Prix and extending his lead at the top of the drivers' standings. Honestly I'm really happy because we knew that with Toro Rosso, two, three times in the year you have big opportunities like this where the auto works better than expected, things come your way.

Twenty laps before the end, it was clear that if there were no accident or technical defeat, only Vettel's third place could be realistic, or overtaking Bottas, since Hamilton's advantage grew steadily. "I was lucky the vehicle was not broken and I could carry on".

As somebody who knows and likes him, I would give him the benefit of the doubt. So I hope that this year, and I think this year has shown so far that our vehicle is more efficient, our auto is stronger and still has a lot of potential to unleash - so I'm quite confident with what's sitting in the pipeline that we can improve.
