Trump Calls for Attorney General to End Mueller Investigation ‘Right Now’

Mic reporter Emily Singer said that alleged Russian spy Maria Butina was in the White house but it was a National Security Council employee

U.S. President Donald Trump appealed to Attorney General Jeff Sessions to end an investigation into Russia's role in the 2016 election, drawing a rebuke from his fellow Republicans in Congress who said the probe must go on.

In several tweets, Trump escalated his attacks on the investigation, led by special counsel Robert Mueller, that includes examining whether Trump's campaign coordinated with Russian Federation and whether Trump has obstructed the probe. He accused Mueller of having a conflict of interest and criticized his staff as "Angry Democrats that are doing his dirty work".

The tweet comes as Trump's ex-campaign chief Paul Manafort, who was indicted by the special counsel last fall, faces trial for the second day in federal court in Virginia. "America must never accept it".

But early on Wednesday morning, Trump committed "an attempt to obstruct justice hiding in plain sight", according to California Representative Adam Schiff, 58, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee and a former federal prosecutor who in 1990, as The Los Angeles Times reported, successfully prosecuted Richard Miller, the first FBI agent ever charged with espionage for passing secret information to Russian Federation, then part of the Soviet Union. "The president is stating his opinion, he's stating it clearly, and he's certainly expressing the frustration that he has with the level of corruption that we've seen from people like Jim Comey, Peter Strzok, Andrew McCabe", Ms. Sanders said.

In a separate tweet, Mr Trump asked whether his former top political aide was being treated worse than Al Capone, tweeting Mr Manafort was "now serving solitary confinement - although convicted of nothing?"

Some legal analysts said Wednesday's tweet alone was not enough to bring an obstruction of justice charge but it could be used to establish a pattern of conduct revealing Trump's intentions.

Manafort's trial is the first under Special Counsel Robert Mueller's 14-month probe.

Subsequently, Mueller was appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to spearhead the probe. Trump also called the probe a "terrible situation".

Conservative writer Max Boot argued in a Washington Post column Wednesday that President Donald Trump's latest attack on the Russian Federation investigation is yet another "smoking gun" among many that demonstrate his criminal culpability. Giuliani said. "We have every reason to believe they don't have anything".

"These old charges have nothing to do with Collusion - a Hoax!" he said.

The president's tweets Wednesday were greeted warily on Capitol Hill, with most lawmakers, regardless of party, urging Trump to let the probe run its course.

On Monday, I recapped Trump's insane tweets over the weekend, as they painted a picture of a man truly rattled by Robert Mueller's investigation.
