Conor McGregor to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in Las Vegas

Conor Mc Gregor Khabib UFC

When asked by ESPN's Brett Okamoto whether he knew why Nate Diaz was upset, UFC President Dana White said: "I have no idea". It looks as though Dana White and UFC as a whole have little issue now with McGregor's attack on the bus, as footage from the scene is now being used to promote the fight.

According to UFC president Dana White, former lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor will not be punished for the bus attack that almost decimated an entire fight card and sent the two-time champion to jail. BT Sport will keep you across all the build-up and the action on the night from Las Vegas. It's gonna be a big fight.

Two words: McGregor's back.

Khabib Nurmagomedov has once again reiterated his desire to disfigure Conor McGregor when he finally gets his hands on the former UFC lightweight champion.

Nurmagomedov, whose rise to prominence has been more of a slow burner in comparison to McGregor, was touted as an opponent when his foe first became lightweight champion.

Those health problems are almost resolved, and now GSP is looking to take on the victor of McGregor-Khabib ... if the UFC will let him. McGregor, though, never defended the strap as he courted a boxing showdown with Floyd Mayweather, leaving a vacuum in the division.

Nurmagomedov's last fight was held on April 7, defeating in the title fight American realtor al Iaquinta.

McGregor first fired off an incendiary tweet and, following an alleged confrontation between his friend Artem Lobov and Nurmagomedov, gatecrashed the media day for UFC 223. Last month he was sentenced to five days of community service in the United States after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct.

Should he be allowed to fight then?

Going into the festivities, the assumption was that the sole focus would be on the return of Nate Diaz to the Octagon after over two years away, as he's set to take on Dustin Poirier in the UFC 230 co-main event in Madison Square Garden on November 3.

While appearing on Submission Radio, Georges St. Pierre discussed the upcoming Khabib & McGregor fight and indicated that he would be interested in challenging the victor of that bout but doesn't believe UFC will allow it.

Diaz didn't seem happy about the surprise announcement of McGregor's next bout.
