A small plane crashed at a parking lot in Santa Ana on Aug. 5 2018

The Orange County Fire Authority, who responded on the scene, said they were lucky the crash wasn't as deadly as it could have been.

An airplane crashed in a strip mall parking lot in Santa Ana, California, on Sunday, killing all five people onboard.

There were no survivors on the plane and no-one injured on the ground, Orange County fire authorities said. Although a vehicle in the lot was damaged, authorities said Sunday evening there appeared to be no injuries on the ground.

Nasim Ghanadan, Floria Hakimi and Lara Shepherd all worked at a Pacific Union office in Danville, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Ghanadan's profile on the company website said her clients "appreciate her honesty, tenacious work ethic, strong negotiation skills, and cheerful spirit".

The plane crushed a auto in the crash, but fortunately there was no one inside the vehicle at the time. The car's owner was fortunately inside the mall shopping when their auto was hit. The FAA launched an investigation into the crash, and added that the National Transportation Safety Board will determine the probable cause.

"Our entire Pacific Union family is mourning the loss of our colleagues, family and friends", the company's chief executive Mark A. McLaughlin said in a statement.

FAA records show the 1973 Cessna 414 fixed wing aircraft is registered to Category 3 Aviation Corp in San Francisco.

Ella Pham, 20, and her boyfriend were just leaving the parking lot at the time of the crash.
