Chelsea have shown late interest in Lyon midfielder

Man Utd news

But Chelsea, despite not having made an official offer, are hoping to sign the player before the transfer window shuts this week.

'It's too early to say, ' he told reporters after Lyon's International Champions Cup defeat to Chelsea on Tuesday.

Fekir has recently reported for Lyon training following his World Cup exploits with France and during an interview, he has opened the possibility of a summer exit.

As such, the 25-year-old still remains a Lyon player but a late interest from Chelsea means a transfer could be very much on the cards before the transfer window closes this Thursday.

It is claimed that a move to Chelsea could be cooled because of the fact Fekir would only be playing Europa League football next season.

Fekir scored 18 goals for Lyon last season and can operate as a central attacking midfielder, on the flanks and even as a false 9. I feel great in the group.

As you can see, I am in Lyon. We do not know what will happen in the future but I am very good at OL.

"We involved him a lot in our build-up, but we need to get used to that a little bit more still - that's clear, [and] he needs to get used to it a little bit more, but there were a lot of good build-up situations, so that helps".

The France global was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool FC ahead of the start of the World Cup back in June. "I am very happy here", he said in quotes obtained via the Mirror. As things stand, Chelsea appear the sole club in the race for Fekir with Liverpool not necessarily needing another attacker following the arrival of Xherdan Shaqiri.
