Protesters target nail salons after broomstick brawl footage goes viral

Asian nail workers squared off against several Black woman as seen in a viral video posted on Facebook. But the salon contended that she also refused to pay for the pedicure.

A nail salon employee was arrested after she was caught on camera repeatedly attacking a customer with a broom. "She went to the owner, she addressed the owner, she said, "Michael, look at my eyebrows.' And when he looked at her eyebrows, he said, 'I will fix them for you.' She's like, 'You can't fix them for me.' She was like, 'I'm not payin" for this".

By Monday night, the video had racked up hundreds of thousands of views.

The salon employees began to assault the three black women with broomstick, dustpans and their hands.

During the ensuing fist-fight, the woman now clutching the broom handle is knocked to the ground, but does not let go of her grip.

Thomas was also charged with a misdemeanor assault.

An investigation into the brawl is ongoing, and more charges could result, the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office told News12. Thomas refused medical treatment, according to police.

The Facebook and Yelp pages for New Red Apple Nail have been flooded with angry comments.

"There is no respect for people in this neighbourhood", Gavin Gibbs, a 49-year-old East Flatbush resident, told The New York Daily News.

"We don't need to protest, we need to financially castrate this business".
